First Entry

I was thinking as I lay awake, too stuffed to sleep or roll over. I had just enjoyed a glorious supper, whole fried flounder, fried okra, fried green tomatoes, buttered beets, fresh field peas seasoned with streak of lean. Cherokee Black tomatoes, sliced cucumbers with onions in vinegar, and fresh peach cobbler served hot with vanilla ice cream, store bought unfortunately. How blessed I am to know the joys of so many wonderful flavors, most with beautiful memories. These pleasures made me smile inside. I had denied myself this enjoyment for sometime, though I still prepared and ate great food, I had been thinking of food as a cost center and not the gift it is, due to financial hardships my family has been through.

I hope to use this medium to help me regain my love of simple pleasures, and hopefully introduce or remind others of them as well. I am southern if you couldn't tell from the meal description, I enjoy all types of food and hope others will share their food memories and mental impact of cuisine.

I will post at least one food I have had each day and a thought associated with the day and possibly the food. This will be an inner journey and may change as I change.

Thank you, I will post tomorrow
